Bitez is a delightful resort and, although only a short distance from Gumbet and Bodrum, is quite different in that its smaller, less commercial and has a lovely laid-back feel to it. It has a long, narrow-ish sandy beach which stretches along the whole resort, some low-key but lively nightlife and a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants.
Its really the best of both worlds in Bitez a laid back atmosphere and an easygoing way of life but with Bodrum, with its shopping and nightlife, just a short hop away either by taxi or by dolmus. All ages are catered for in Bitez and theres a good choice of hotels and apartments. Theres a long beach, some excellent excursions and boat trips, some shops and, best of all, a wonderful relaxed atmosphere. And its also great for all kinds of watersports, especially windsurfing.
April to October is the best time to visit Bitez although it will be less crowded and less hot if you avoid the peak season. The weather is ideal in May and June with long days and temperatures in the high 70s and low 80s. In September and October, the high season crowds have departed and the sea is really warm.
The location of Bitez could not be better. It enjoys a great setting between the blue Mediterranean and the Bodrum Peninsula, and a long sandy beach runs the entire length of the resort with an attractive promenade with bars and restaurants. Theres local transport to nearby resorts and villages (including Bodrum) and boats regularly depart for Bodrum and other resorts around the peninsula. Theres also a small selection of shops and restaurants and a little low-key nightlife.
Bitez offers a surprisingly good selection of places to eat and drink from family-run cafes to excellent local and international restaurants. Theres a good choice of bars for an evening drink along the seafront promenade and, a huge plus, its all within very easy walking distance.
You will be spoilt for things to do and see and, apart from the numerous boat trips available, including a day trip to the Greek island of Kos (from nearby Bodrum), you can also visit and / or try your hand at every type of water sport in addition to enjoying a Jeep Safari, a Turkish Bath, a visit to Pamukkale and, of course, a not-to-be-missed trip to Ephesus.
Visitors dont come to Bitez for the nightlife and shopping although there are a few low-key nightspots in and around the resort together with a sprinkling of small shops. For serious nightlife, Bodrum, with its great club and bar scene, is just a short distance away either by taxi or dolmus whilst shopping in the local markets and bazaars in Bodrum is great fun (and easy to get to).
