Holidays in Kas

Kas Introduction

Kas (pronounced ‘cash’) enjoys a lovely location on Turkey’s picturesque and incredibly photogenic Mediterranean coastline. In the village there’s a jumble of narrow, winding streets, all lined with old Turkish houses, craft shops, tavernas, bars and restaurants. There’s a lovely harbour from where both fishing and excursion boats depart on a regular basis, and the odd night spot for a little low-key nightlife. It really is a picture postcard setting with authentic Turkish atmosphere.

Why Choose Kas?

Kas is absolutely perfect for a get-away-from-it all holiday with its easy-going, laid-back atmosphere and beautiful, crystal clear seas. It’s an attractive Turkish village and, if you like boat trips, there are some great trips especially to the amazing sunken city of Kekova. Apart from August, when there’s a lot of local tourism, it rarely gets very crowded and, a huge plus, it’s that rare delight – a relatively ‘undiscovered’ resort.

Best Time to Travel

Any time is a good time to be in Kas although the days are longer in May and June and the sea is at its warmest in September and October. In July and August the resort is quite full with local tourism whilst throughout the rest of the summer Kalkan’s visitors come from far and wide.

The Resort

The harbour is the focal point for everything that happens in Kas and here you’ll find a selection of restaurants with, of course, a few specialising in delicious sea food. The village itself is very laid-back and uncommercial but, at the same time, there’s some low-key night-life and a very good selection of shops and restaurants.

Eating & Drinking

There’s a good selection cafes, restaurants and bars in Kas which cater for just about every taste and, close to the harbour, there are several excellent seafood restaurants. Everything is within easy walking distance and is concentrated around the centre of the village and around the harbour.

Excursions

Apart from the many boat trips available, you can also visit and / or try your hand at a Jeep Safari, Patara & the Lycean ruins, the famous sunken city of Kekova, Kastellorizo (Greek island) and the Saklikent Gorge & Tlos.

Night Life & Shopping

Nightlife in Kas is low-key with a small selection of night spots to choose from. Most visitors enjoy the peace and relaxed atmosphere of the resort in the evening but there’s always something to do and somewhere to go. There’s a selection of shops and a few arts & crafts boutiques.
